Google Experimenting With Drop-Down Boxes
Google Experiments with Dropdown Navigation over at Google Blogoscoped has Google taking a page from Lycos circa 1998 and putting various search options into a drop-down box. Being Search Boxed To Death from me in 2001 covers how we went from drop-down boxes to tabs, because drop-down didn't work. From 2003, Searching With Invisible Tabs covers how we went from boxes to tabs. From 2004, Google Loses Tabs In New Look coves Google dropping tabs and MSN Search Gets New Look; Microsoft Gets New Search Engine covers MSN bring back drop-down boxes. So perhaps the wheel is spinning back to drop-down boxes again.
