SES NY 2005 Recap
There was an overwhelming amount of information and news that came out of the Search Engine Strategies show in New York last month. Looking to do some catching-up? Here's a guide to things you might review:
- Reports from SES NYC: This links starts you off with live coverage of the first day of the show posted
to our Search Engine Watch Forums. You can continue on to further coverage for days two,
three and four.
- Search Engine Strategies Conference (SES) 2005- New York City is a very cool, semi-illustrated guide to all the sessions
that Rand Fishkin of SEOmoz attended at the show.
- The Word from SES from iMediaConnection is the first part of a rundown on major news and developments from
Kevin Ryan, continuing to this second part.
- SES Recap from Chris Boggs at instantPosition starts off with his
experiences at the first day of the show and continues for days two,
three and
four.
- Pictures from 2005 SES Search Engine Strategies Conference in New York
from Stephen Turcotte of Backbone media is actually much more than pictures. Instead, it's like a travelogue of his days (and evenings) at the show.
- SES New York NoteBlog from JupiterResearch analyst Gary Stein covers notes he took
away from sessions on the first day of the show.
- Google Still Tops, But Faces Fickle Consumers from MediaPost
covers various rating services discussing how the search landscape appears to them on our Search Landscape panel.
- JupiterResearch: Bearish On Local Search, Bullish On Vertical Search
from MediaPost recaps a JupiterResearch forecast presented at the show.
- SES New York Day Two - Jerry Yang Keynote covers Yahoo cofounder Jerry Yang's
PowerPoint-free talk about various issues with me, with another take in Yahoo! turns 10 from USA Today.
- NY Times Publishes Article About Clickfraud on our SEW Blog recaps a New York Times story and a News.com
story about issues raised during a clickfraud session held at the show. For more, see also our recent blog entry,
More On Click Fraud, The Lawsuit & The Need For Third Party Auditors.
- Contextual
Advertising With the Advertiser in Control from ClickZ looks at an issue that continues to come up on our panel about contextual ads. Marketers have to spend a ton of time
-- especially with Google -- developing with workarounds to get the control and targeting that isn't provided directly.
Smaller Players Shrug Off Increased Contextual Competition from ClickZ touches on this, as well.
- (Fill in the Blank) Search Company Introduces
Proprietary SEM Technology! from MediaPost has Mark Naples coming away from an expo hall filled with SEM vendors thinking that many aren't distinguishing themselves
enough.
-
SES NYC expo center a joke? at our Search Engine Watch Forums is quite a debate about search marketing reaching a new benchmark -- or benchlow -- depending on your views of "booth babes" in the expo hall. Search Engine Journal provides a picture and describes one of the products actually being pitched.
- Sullivan: Vertical, Organic Search Deserve Attention from ClickZ covers things I and the audience talked about at our traditional informal Evening Forum on the third day of the show.
Missed the show? Don't worry. SES is coming to every country and every city on the planet, in its quest to inform and educate people about search marketing. OK -- we don't get everywhere, but our Munich show happens next week, Tokyo later this month, Toronto in May, London in June and we're back to the US for San Jose in August. A rundown on all show dates can be found on the Search Engine Strategies web site.
