Facebook Starts Rolling Out Homepage Changes
Earlier this week, word broke that Facebook would be updating its homepage again. Today, Facebook confirmed those changes and began to roll them out, though the names of the features are different than originally planned.
The changes involve how users view the status updates and shared items from their Facebook network. The most important updates will now appear in the "News Feed," but users can toggle to "View Live Feed" to view all status updates.
Here's a screenshot provided at the official Facebook blog:

Additionally, photo tagging, friend acceptances, RSVPs and the like will be moved back into the main feed in the middle column. Several of these currently appear in the right column.
As for why Facebook was changing the homepage again, they gave a vague answer:
Some of you may ask why we are changing the home page again. Like you, we know it can be disruptive when things are moved around, but we hope that these changes make Facebook a more valuable experience for you. We put a lot of thought into all the changes we make to the site and do a lot of testing before releasing anything.

THIS SUCKS! I do not care who added who as a friend, nor who became a fan of what. And please could I have access to my main Facebook page? Being blocked out for hours upon hours in a day hinders my networking abilities. NOT COOL AT ALL! I DON'T LIKE IT.
Amber Weinacht October 23, 2009 4:34 PM
This is ridiculous. Facebook keeps making these changes, and it pisses me off because it creates these "rolling outages" on mine and my friends' profiles. What's the point of social networking if you can't even access anyone's information? Way to go Failbook.
Anna Dynamite October 23, 2009 4:55 PM
I think facebook now is ok...no need to update it and the YOVILLE????gosh I love the first job not right now doing the baking part...ewww
craigspr October 23, 2009 5:03 PM
Stop it, stop it, stop it! No more changes and "improvements". Are you guys bored...just coming up with something to do? Has anyone actually asked for this? I, too, don't care who added who, who became fans of who or who joined what. Furthermore, I certainly don't want that kind of information from my FB spamming my friends pages either. (Not to mention potential employers who are in my friends lists!)

Charlie October 23, 2009 6:05 PM
i hate it i want the normal home page back i have no highlight or anything its crap !!!!!!!!!!!!!
emma October 23, 2009 6:07 PM
I'm moving to myspace!
This new change is not working for me, everyone's complaining about it.
Rosemary October 23, 2009 6:17 PM
This page is not user friendly at all. I don't care who became a fan and/or friend of whom. Please "unroll" these new changes! We don't even have our highlights and funny videos and pics that people were posting!!! YUCK!!
CJ October 23, 2009 6:39 PM
really hate the new changes...Facebook has now become a much less "valuable experience" for me and, judging from what i'm seeing on friends' pages: for others as well.
frances October 23, 2009 7:42 PM
Hate the changes...does NOT make Facebook a "more valuable experience" at all....nor is more a "more valuable experience" for my friends judging from their posts on their own pages.
Bad, alienating move.
frances October 23, 2009 7:43 PM
yuck i hate seeing who adds who and what they want to be a fan of now going to make me add less and be less active because i do not want all that crap on my friends pages either
and i do not care what facebook thinks i would consider news based on popularity with my friends
now am missing half of what i do want to know
so have to go to each person page to find what i am looking for
might be time to back off facebook so much
and just get back to regular emailing everyone
me October 23, 2009 8:29 PM
I hate it!!! I agree with others. FB techies must have tooooooooooo much time on their hands! What are the benefits of this. Who cares what fan club etc. people r joining.CUT THE CRAP!!! Go sharpen some pencils or something.!!!!!!!!
Larraine Counihan October 23, 2009 8:44 PM
STUPID move
FB October 23, 2009 10:57 PM
Yeah as of today the only thing FB will be good for is Farmville. Who are you to tell me whats popular among my friends.... I don't want my "live feed" to be filled of who friended who....what do I care.... and really why would live feed be an option.... I want all of it to be live, dang. This is stupid.... who ask for this change anyway....If its going to be this way, I will just stick to Twitter!
Anicwms October 24, 2009 8:24 AM
The changes suck...
You have to wonder what they mean when they say the do a "lot of testing" before they make changes like this. Ridiculous.
Nancy October 24, 2009 8:55 AM
Nope, don't like it. Who, other than stalkers, care who becomes friends of others or become fans of pages??? I don't! I could care less but I do NOT want it all over my page. I hope if my friends post something important then can call me with the news too cause it looks like I'll miss it on facebook with all the unnecessary crap! Plus, half of the updates aren't even in order with the latest posts on top! Some of what is in the news feed doesn't even exist in the live feed. WTF???
SAK October 24, 2009 10:03 AM
I hate it - it's rubbish! If they don't change it i'm outta here
Em October 24, 2009 10:14 AM
This is ridiculous,i hate it!!!
seo October 24, 2009 11:52 AM
I just started with F Book and cannot get to my page. When I look up my name it shows up with only one friend. The funny thing is that the friend that shows up was never invited as a friend. She is a contatact on my linked in account but I have never set her up as a friend on facebook.
How did Facebook find her??????????? Was it on my computer? Do Facebook and Linked-in share information?
It seems like more than a coincidence.
Does anyone know how I can report this?
Kyle October 24, 2009 12:59 PM
Seems everyone else hates these changes as much as I do. Has anyone started a GROUP OR PETITION TO OPPOSE THESE CHANGES and bring back the old facebook homepage? If so, please post asap. Let's fight for our old facebook back!!
Michelle October 24, 2009 1:52 PM
Terrible change! Completely unnecessary! Confusing, disturbing and irrelevant!
HATE IT!!!!!
Alex October 24, 2009 2:40 PM
I do not care who adds who and what they want to be a fan also I don't want this showing up on my friends page either..the reason I switched to face book was because it was much easier you had less stuff to wade through to get to what you actually wanted to see..well this is changing so might have to reconsider myspace again.
Liz October 24, 2009 4:09 PM
What is going to happen is everyone is going to form groups, threaten to leave and sign online petitions to change it back to the old way, like people always do when facebook makes changes! Of course facebook won't listen. Then as soon as everyone gets comfortable with the new system, there will be new and weirder changes. Everything will be neon green and photos will be banned or something like that! Then we will get used to that and the cycle continues!
JR October 24, 2009 7:13 PM
it sucks, who cares that this and that are friends with who
njoroge ikkonye October 25, 2009 1:49 AM
blows mega chunks. Bigtime. Facebook, you suck.
billiebob October 25, 2009 6:48 AM
Facebook!!! I loved it , how simple it was!!!nothing less nothing moree!!!! but after this change, millions of ppl are so pissed off and want to whoop F-books ass! Please change it to normal!!!!! Or we will quit!!!!!!!
bass.lover October 25, 2009 6:58 AM
HATE IT. CHANGE IT BACK FACEBOOK. BOYCOTT FACEBOOK AND THEIR ADVERTISERS, AS WE ALL KNOW NOW THIS WAS DONE FOR ADVERTISING PURPOSES TO CLEAR OUT THE SPACE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE HOME PAGE SO ADVERTISERS ADS WILL BE SEEN BETTER. YOUR GREED WILL BE YOUR DOWNFALL FACEBOOK.
MJ October 25, 2009 11:28 AM
Join the group CHANGE FACEBACK TO NORMAL!! It has almost 630,000 members already.
Donna October 25, 2009 11:57 AM
This is crap. When you switch it to "News Feed" some updates that happened 5 hours ago appear at the top while others that are as recent as 5 minutes can appear further down.
But to get it in order I have to look at the "Live Feed" which is where I'm informed of all the turd groups or people my friends have added. I DO NOT CARE.
A LOAD OF SHIAT.
Paul October 25, 2009 2:45 PM
I liked the way facebook was before! It was very simple to use. Please go back to the old facebook. I think if its not broke don't mess with it. I like facebook better then myspace don't make me change to them. Please:)
Theresa October 25, 2009 5:45 PM
The changes suck.
Postings are not in date/time order.
Too much crap being shown that I don't care anything about [who care's who's friended who or tagged in a picture]
Too hard to figure out what's actually going on.
If I wanted to spend hours reading crap I'd use Twitter.
Looks like it's time to stop using Facebook.
Dan October 27, 2009 12:29 PM
Hate the changes. I agree with Dan. Postings are not in order. Unusefull stuff being shown.
Hard to figure out what's actually going on.
If they don't change it back I'll probably let go of Facebook.
David October 29, 2009 10:30 AM
