Stanford Students May Have Answer To Video Monetization
Another group at Stanford may have come up with the next big thing. Zunavision is a way to embed video inside video and could lead to true successful video monetization.
Okay it has been out there since midNovember, but it really does have some of the slick tricks needed to ultimately help the video industry develop a working revenue generating model.
The insert can be placed into the background of a video - and people can walk in front of it - so if you had a video and put it on the wall in the background it renders into the video and allows foreground action to continue.
Once they have a clickable solution, video advertising will be officially scalable to true monetization. In the meantime, play with it.

This is pretty unbelievable stuff. I can just imagine thousands of people uploading videos with the sole purpose of monetizing it with similar content... kind of like bloggers do with AdSense. At that point... it's all going to be about VSEO, Video Search Engine Optimization.

I think this is very smart use of tech. That said i can already hear the arguments now. Imagine Aljazeera ads being displayed on the whitehouse....
The idea works well until its scaled into the commercial world. As soon as someone shoots a video with a public building in the background that gets high viewing audiences, that building is sure to kick up about who owns the advertising vehicle. Pretty much in the same way as would happen if you attemtped to hang a banner off the side of the golden gate in the real world.
Very clever but i have problems seeing the real world possibilities.

Hey Frank - I'm not sure if you mean Stanford students or just "they" meaning Internet techies, but there appears to be a clickable solution out there already....check out www.klickable.tv. Seems like Rachael Ray and Bravo are using already....

I will definitely check them out. Thanks for the information. Video will be a big play once it has a simple monetization method.

Does anyone know if they have applied for a patent on this? It doesn't seem that novel or different from existing (if underutilized) technology.

OMG - Someone is doing something kinda creative. Just like at least 5 or 6 of us already in the market that do exactly to the same thing and more.
Seriously, it is great to see people innovating. This market will go through ebbs and flows over the next year as people think about how to monetize video.
Also keep in mind that one needs to tell a great story with video, immersing the viewer in the experience, as well as being able to measure the results with great analytics. Hummm, sounds like a great idea for a business.

Well, what about "low tech" ways to monetize your videos... such as "selling" your description area or partnering with someone to put links in the description area. Also, if the links are at the top... they might be syndicated out to 3rd party sites also.
I created a service that helps any size producer accomplish this... see YourVideoCash.com
Thanks,
Michael
