An Update on Last Week's AdWords Updates
Last week, we reported that AdWords was making updates to Quality Score and Ad Rank. The update included how ad position affected click-through rates and factored into Quality Score. But many of us were not sure exactly what changed since ad position influence has been taken into account for awhile now.
Google is now clarifying that update. Here's the word straight from the horse's mouth:
We also wanted to emphasize that AdWords has always accounted for the influence of ad position on CTR and removed it from the Quality Score. This specific improvement updates this system to make it fresher and more accurate.
Also, the updates are now live.

Last week we read in Techcrunch:
"Ads that appear first, though, get a boost in click-through rates simply by being listed above all the other ads. Google is now taking into account the boost in click-through rates an ad gets by dint of its position, and backing that out from the quality score. That should result in a boost to overall quality scores."
However, we believe this part is something Google always did. That is, they always understood that higher placed ads would, on an average, get more clicks, so they'd compensate for this in the QS. So was Techcrunch deliberately misstating how Google derives Quality Score?

When using the adwords in starting a business it is important to get all of the facts. Adwords can be really helpful, but a new business owner needs to research the in and outs of advertising and getting good rankings in searches. This information was helpful to me when I started my business at www.onestopshopelectronics.com.
