Yahoo Begins Offline Advertising Campaign for Search
Yahoo is beginning an aggressive advertising campaign in order to get people to use it (again) for search.
Expect to see display ads (like the one below) and hear radio ads as the campaign unfolds.
The Yahoo Search blog posted a radio ad on its blog. It uses the concept of searching the web as a jungle and that users need Yahoo's security measures to protect them from the dangerous and even wacky stuff on the web.

What do you think of the new advertising push by Yahoo? Leave your first impressions in the comments.

The most telling thing is when you chat to Google about their advertising they tell you that they do do advertising.
Its just not in the conventional sense of advertising. I guess you could call it marketing. Maybe Yahoo! needs to learn a thing or two about that.

Yahoo is a news portal that also offers a search the web facility. As news portal, it is not as good as Google news. As a search engine it is not as good as Google. But it does have its place. As Google becomes clogged with ads, it will pass down the line. Yahoo knows this and is waiting for the cup to overflow. Advertising is Good for Yahoo. people will check it out from time and see it get better.
My questionn is:-
Which search engine is waiting for Yahoo's cup to runneth over?

I would echo Mike's sentiments, in that Google employs superior search engine technology, and Google News is also the better news product. Its interesting watching the politics from the sidelines, these are exciting times!

Didn't make sense to me. How it is going to help to get more traffic for a search engine. Nobody goes and perform search on yahoo because he/she heard it on radio.

To have users switching to a particular search engine takes more than advertising. What really matters is that the SERP are accurate with the results they present. Relevance for the search terms are the key here.

I love the fact that it is an "offline" campaign to promote "online" campaigns. It makes sense, but sounds funny. Offline Online!
